By merging two popular conferences into a single international event, DLG Benelux can expand into new regions and respond more quickly to emerging market trends. This new approach also reflects industry feedback, emphasizing the need for more streamlined and impactful events.

Global Seaweed Experts Convene in Adelaide for Seagriculture Asia-Pacific 2025

The international Seagriculture Asia-Pacific conference made its debut in the region, bringing together leading experts under the theme "Future Proofing the Seaweed Industry." This seaweed event gathered stakeholders from across Asia-Pacific and beyond to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and strengthen the industry’s resilience to ensure long-term sustainability and growth.

Seagriculture Asia-Pacific 2025, the first in-person event of its kind in the region, provided a platform for participants from across the seaweed value chain to address challenges and seize new opportunities. The event was proudly supported by the Australian Sustainable Seaweed Alliance (ASSA), which is dedicated to scaling up environmentally responsible seaweed farming to produce food, feed, and bioproducts. ASSA plays a key role in advocating for the Australian seaweed industry and driving its sustainable expansion nationwide.

The world’s seaweed industry focuses on Adelaide at Seagriculture

The world’s leading experts on the seaweed value chain will be in Adelaide next week for the international Seagriculture Asia-Pacific conference, uniting under the theme "Future Proofing the Seaweed Industry" and marking the first time it has been held in the region.

With support of the Australian Sustainable Seaweed Alliance (ASSA), Seagriculture Asia Pacific, which runs from March 18 to 20, is the first in-person event in the region, bringing together participants from the Asia-Pacific region and around the world across the seaweed value chain.

The conference program boasts an impressive lineup, headlined by renowned environmentalist Professor Tim Flannery. Attendees will also hear from four distinguished keynote speakers: Steve Meller (CH4 Global), Alan T. Critchley (Verschuren Centre), Steven Hermans (Phyconomy), and Alex Baker (FutureFeed).

AUSTRALIAN CLIMATE CHANGE LEADER PROF TIM FLANNERY TO HEADLINE INTERNATIONAL SEAWEED CONFERENCE DEBUTING IN AUSTRALIA NEXT MARCH

The organisers of the longstanding and respected Seagriculture Conferences, DLG Benelux, together with local industry host the Australian Sustainable Seaweed Alliance (ASSA) today announce that Professor Tim Flannery, one of Australia’s leading writers on climate change and an internationally acclaimed scientist, explorer and conservationist, will open a global seaweed gathering set for 18-20 March 2025 in Adelaide.

Professor Flannery, a former Australian of the Year and Councillor at the Climate Council, joins other speakers revealed today including Steve Meller, CEO, President and Co-Founder of CH4 Global, Professor Emeritus Rocky de Nys, Chief Scientific Officer at Sea Forest, and Nick Hill, Co-Founder of Coast 4C, a 2024 finalist of The Earthshot Prize, a globally significant environmental initiative led by Prince William.

Seagriculture USA 2024: Exploring New Frontiers in Ketchikan, Alaska

The Seagriculture USA 2024 conference, the premier event for the seaweed industry, was successfully held in Ketchikan, Alaska from 11 - 12 September 2024. Under the theme "Exploring New Frontiers," Seagriculture USA 2024 united nearly 200 stakeholders from 10 countries to share knowledge and ideas, steering the future of the seaweed industry towards sustainable and economically viable paths. Representatives from more than 121 companies and institutions actively engaged in discussions, networking, and knowledge sharing.

Over the two-day event, Seagriculture USA 2024 featured a dynamic and comprehensive program that included six plenary sessions, two panel discussions, and the newly introduced Seaweed Elevator Pitches. This innovative format allowed for a rapid yet thorough exploration of various projects, providing attendees with a broad spectrum of insights into the seaweed industry. With nearly 50 speakers, including international experts from organizations such as the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Cargill, EY, the World Bank Group, and Hatch Blue, the conference offered a wide array of perspectives on seaweed farming, innovations, and regulatory frameworks.

Nearly 300 delegates, representing 18 countries worldwide, attend second edition of Seagriculture USA, held in Portland, Maine

The second edition of Seagriculture USA 2023, a prominent conference in the seaweed industry, took place from September 6-7. Hosted in the picturesque city of Portland, Maine, the event gathered 293 participants from 185 companies and 18 countries for two days of insightful discussions, knowledge exchange, and networking.


This year's conference was all about chances and changes in the seaweed industry and spotlighted two key themes: The expansion of seaweed investments and scaling up the industry responsibly, and the invaluable perspectives of indigenous communities engaged in seaweed activities. Respected experts shared their views and findings during seven sessions. Audience interaction played a key role as attendees posed questions, creating a dynamic and interactive environment that incorporated a spirit of open communication. This emphasis on dialogue contributed to the conference's success in creating a truly communicative and collaborative environment.

Seagriculture, one of the leading conferences in the seaweed industry, has been organized in Europe since 2012. The Seagriculture conferences stand as a pivotal platform for fostering collaboration, facilitating the exchange of knowledge, and catalyzing innovative ideas within the seaweed industry.

Last year the first edition of Seagriculture USA was made possible with the support of the State of Maine. This year, the highly anticipated second edition of Seagriculture USA 2023 conference is returning to Portland (ME) one more time. Seagriculture USA and GreenWave join forces to promote seaweed farming

Seagriculture USA 2023 is returning to Portland, Maine on September 6-7, 2023. The organizers of Seagriculture USA are pleased to announce their partnership with GreenWave. After successful premiere in 2022, Seagriculture USA returns to Portland, Maine, for second edition in September 2023

The organizer of the Seagriculture USA Conference, DLG Benelux, is pleased to announce that the second edition of Seagriculture USA will return to Portland, Maine, on 6 and 7 September 2023 and will again take place in The Westin Portland Harborview.

The launch of Seagriculture USA took place on 7 and 8 September 2022 and was an instant success with 279 delegates from 12 countries, 157 attending companies, 17 trade show participants and some 27 expert speakers who addressed a broad range of topics related to seaweeds.

Having evaluated the results of the first edition the State of Maine favorably decided to support again the second edition of the conference to take place in Portland, Maine. Seagriculture USA 2023 is proudly supported by: Maine Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD), Maine Office of Tourism, Maine Technology Institute (MTI), Maine International Trade Center (MITC) and Maine North Atlantic Development Office (MENADO).
